Visit to Omaha’s Homeless

Dave Laney visits with Fay Sechtem

We paid a visit to Omaha Nebraska last weekend. These are some of the faces of Omaha’s poor & homeless we met there. Fortunately, they have Dave Laney and his Starfish Ministry to provide them with help they need. It really opened my eyes to how these folks live and who they really are.

We made the trip because this week my wife is celebrating her birthday without her twin brother this year. Helping out those in need helped us with the healing process.

Dave said to just talk to someone, so I did. I was pleased that a few people agreed to be photographed. I think their photos say a lot. These people are human beings, just like the rest of us and each have a story to tell.

I would have never met them if we hadn’t lost our brother, and if my wife hadn’t wanted to go to help them out. Winter is coming and we are glad there are people like Dave Laney around. The experience really makes you appreciate what you have, and it changes your heart.

As we enter into the holiday season, think about helping someone with less than you have. You will both benefit from the experience.
